Yesterday was my last day at work, as I have decided to stay home with my newborn and work on paintings.
This painting, entitling "Office Window," is based on the view out my office window.
I sketched the canvas over my lunch breaks for a week or so, then brought it home to paint and draw over it with pastels. In the studio I would have focus on the experience of being at work and looking out that window, something I usually tried to avoid thinking about while painting. I saw birds out the window, watched the seasons change, and of course kept abreast of all the two-for-one sales at gas station.
I'm so thankful for a workplace that provided this artist with a window for three plus years.
